Implementing Hubs: Roles and Responsibilities
Impact Hub Geneva leads the global coordination of the program. The core team working on the global coordination is referred to as “Accelerate2030 Global Team (A2030 Global Team).” At the national level, each Implementing Impact Hub (or all the Hubs working together in a country) assign(s) a National Coordinator to lead the program implementation locally.
Overall, participation in Accelerate2030 will enable capacity building for your team in the following areas:
- Fundraising & Partnerships development: the global team is putting in place a fundraising support structure, through which you will have ongoing support from experienced fundraisers in our network, bilateral support from the global team, peer support among peer Hubs, as well as fundraising materials and templates to adapt and use locally.
- Delivering high quality support to entrepreneurs: we are working on Scaling Toolkits to be used for the National Scale Ready phase, outlining a support methodology (processes, content, materials) to be used in delivering support to entrepreneurs.
- Connecting Hubs with the UNDP, and where possible, other relevant UN entities.
- Programming around entrepreneurship and the SDGs, with a specific focus on measurement for the SDGs
The following sections clarify the key roles and responsibilities between the National Coordinators/Teams and A2030 Global Team during each program phase:

The first fundraising window until end November 2020 in which all National teams supported by the A2030 Global Team will do their best to mobilise the needed resources. upon which the final decision of participating Hubs will be made. By end of year we will jointly decide if you have the minimum resources to move to the official launch in your country. Only Impact Hubs (or national teams, in the case of multiple Hubs implementing the program in a certain country) that are confident in having the needed resources will be officially onboarded and invited to the next phase.
Fundraising can of course continue after this first window, but we want to make sure that all the participating Hubs are comfortable and confident to move forward.
2. Partnership Building
National Teams are responsible for:
Apart from identifying and establishing partnerships with organisations that provide financial support, participating Hubs are to establish (or enhance) national partnerships for the successful implementation of the program locally. This includes:

NATIONAL SCALE-READY PROGRAM
June-October 2021
Participating Hubs are responsible for the program implementation in their country. In countries where there are several Hubs present, a national coordination plan needs to be in place.
We are working on a ‘Scaling Toolkit,’ outlining our scaling methodology and providing program tools and templates, which have been improved, refined and tested over the past 4 years of the program.
Based on guidance provided in this Toolkit, National Teams will provide a support package for each National Finalist, including:
- Host an Accelerate2030 Kick-Off Event – can be used as a “Jury Day” to select the cohort/ or an SDG-related event encompassing other topics but featuring the selected cohort
- Scale-Readiness Check (Individual Diagnostic)
- Support in creating a scaling strategy
- Program of relevant workshops and mentoring (scaling models, investment readiness etc – TBC).
- Provide access to expert advice and consultancy
- Provide 6 months basic membership to each national finalist
- Host a National Accelerate2030 Closing Event
- Ensure visibility of national finalists in local media
- Nominate your top ventures with proven impact on the SDGs and highest potential to scale their impact beyond their local context, for international selection
A2030 Global Team provides:
- Scaling Toolkit: Outlines the Accelerate2030 program curriculum and includes program tools and templates
- Monthly peer learning calls among all National Coordinators
GLOBAL SCALING PROGRAM
February – September 2022
Upon completion of the National Scale-Ready Program, a global jury selects an international cohort who receives further support in scaling internationally.
A2030 Global Team is responsible for:
- Managing the global jury selection process
- Organizing and hosting Global Scaling Week for global finalists in Geneva in February 2022
- Match global finalist ventures with strategic partners in Switzerland, Europe and globally – based on the objectives identified in their scaling strategies (roadmaps).
- Coordinate 6 months of tailored follow up support for international scaling.
In terms of the role of national teams in this phase, we are looking to develop the collaboration among participating Impact Hubs beyond the end of the national phase, especially in terms of:
- Using our global presence as a network and potentially continuing supporting A2030 entrepreneurs in accessing new markets.
- Animating a global community of A2030 entrepreneurs and their supporters interested to jointly contribute to the SDGs (by using the community app, and other tools and methods to continue hosting this global community beyond the end of a certain cohort, thus capitalizing on all the great work done in the previous phase).
- Other ideas are highly welcome and we will continuously work with participating Hubs to see how we can extend the value of our collaboration and our global community.
MEASURING AND REPORTING
Ongoing

- During the National Phase, update an A2030 template with application figures, event figures and comms/social media data on an ongoing basis
- Participate in brief monthly Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) sessions with A2030 Global Team during the National Phase
- At the end of the National Phase, fill out and submit a centralized reporting template to A2030 Global Team, including feedback information, photos and impact numbers.
